Guess what this is?

Yup...that is about 20 rows of Aran on the ground. I looked at it tonight and I'm not sure what I did but it just didn't look right. So I ripped back about 20 rows and am going to try again. Stinks! Big time!

I've been busy this weekend...

So I have been a little busy this weekend. I have done my first hat for "The Ships Project". Learned a few things from it. I also went to the "Knit Happens" shop by me. Great shop! Nice wools nice people and great place to just sit and knit. The are open late Wednesdays. We may want to stop in. Also the first Friday of every month they are open till 7:00. They said there is typically a bottle or two of wine floating around and lots of knitting. Since I will be getting out of work at 1:00 on Friday's soon I plan on going next month.

Also in an effort to use up some wool in my stash I have started a scarf for another charity group called "The Red Scarf Project". This group is local Richmond I think. They take scarf donations to send to orphin College students who have become to old to be cared for. They are included in a Valentines Day package. So yes this is early but it uses up two more skeins in my stash! To kind of give them hope and luck in life. So I designed a scarf with a heart in it.

Fingers are getting sore I think I'll turn in now! It is 2:03 am Sunday Morning!

Second Party of the "Knit Wits"

What a fun night yet again. In attendance again was Barb, Heather and myself. And We actually got a lot of knitting done. I have pictures which I will post later this evening.

Barb is doing amazing on the scarf she is working on. For having not knitted in lets just say a long time she is doing AWESOME! Her stitches are more consistent than mine. Something I am still struggling with.

After posting the site for "The Ships Project" Heather was eager to jump in! She brought with her a hat that she started and finished other then the making up in 2 nights! And had already purchased wool to make 2 more. While at the party she worked the ribbing and a few inches of her second hat.

So it looks like our first charity knit has been decided! Everyone seems real keen on this and I agree. What we basically decided was for everyone to to just pick out the projects they want to do from the site and make whatever they can. Please make sure to read the site to make sure you have meet the guidelines for colors and sizes. I have signed up to join the Yahoo group which is were she posts the details of when and where to ship the items. It might be fun when it gets close to the deadline to do a last push and maybe arrange a knit-a-thon or something.

As Heather sat and wound a ball of wool which we all can't stand doing, we talked about maybe the group pitching in and buying one of those fancy winder things. That way you could just bring your wool to the parties and wind them. Just a thought I will start looking into the prices and reviews and we can review them.

We also did a quick lesson on posting on the blog. If anyone wants o give it a whirl and need my help give me a ring.

Last but not least the next gathering. Barb has decided to host the next party at her house. To try and get a few more people we may change the day. Possibly a Saturday. Barb I'll let you take it over from here.

So all in all we had a great time! Can't wait to do it again!

Aran so far!

This is the aran sweater so far! Ok I know it doesn't look like much happening but this just takes forever. And it has become my between projects project. This back half is actually about 3/4 of the way done. I have probably about another 6 inches or so I think. The original pattern calls for it to be 28" long but that is just way to long I think I am going to go with about 23". So its getting there...slowly but surely...

A message from Barb!

Hi. Barbara here. Here are some things I've learned since our first Knit Wits gathering:

1. Stacy had *way* too much food.
2. I'm a "tight" knitter (though I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing!)
3. I can't knit in the same room with my cat! (Does cat saliva affect the finished product?)
4. Scotch and knitting don't mix.
5. Knitting hurts when you have arthritis in your thumbs.
6. Scotch soothes the pain of arthritis.
7. See #4.
8. My "progress" on my project was short-lived. I've had to pull out about 30 rows!
9. I won't give up!
10. I love the Knit Wits!!! :)See you Wednesday!

Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

So now that I am a O.C.D knitter. I had to go to the "Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival" I was quick to send Paul a message saying. "I'm in heaven!" Wow! I could have gone nuts! Lot's of vendors selling everything from the sheep to the wool to the needles to the finished products. It was packed! I saw some amazing wools. I kind of decided I really don't need to buy any wool right now as I have enough W.I.P's. But I still wanted to get something. So I got something different. I want to try spinning. I walked past a booth were a woman was demonstrating drop spinning. I watched and asked some questions and was sold. She had spinning starter kits for only $9.50. It included directions some wool and the spindle. So I picked up a kit. I decided I may want to pick up some more wool in case it goes well. So I got this great bag of a dyed funky purple. Picture isn't that great the color is amazing. So will make sure to keep it on the calendar and we need to plan a trip for next year. I saw several knitting groups show up and just sit around and knit and chat.
So I am going to try my hand at spinning.

My purple wool.

She is knitting the wool right off the rabbit! I have never seen that before!
The rabbit seamed happy enough.

I guess a bunny may be easier to keep than sheep!

Aww I want one!

Aww arent they cute! Alpaca
