Every once in a while a package shows up at the door and I don't know what it is. Then Dale hands it to me and says it's for you it's a present. He spoils me to death!

This came in the mail today. It is a cat proof yarn bowl! The pictures do not do the color justice. It is a beautiful light teal. He got it off Etsy from OC Pottery. Check out his shop on Etsy his stuff is amazing!

Dale and I just got back from a lovely camping trip in Pennsylvania. No road trip is complete without finding a LYS and I found a lovely one in Intercourse, PA.

The Lancaster Yarn Shop (LYS :-)

I try to support local yarn companies when I am visiting out of town areas. I saw these yarns and just fell in love. And much to my surprise they were locally dyed yarns only available at her shop or from the artists website.

The are 75% SW Merino, 20% Nylon, 5% Stellina. I love the sparkle in them. It reminds me a lot of the Starry by Dream in Color. Not sure yet the plan for it, but it will probably be used together since they look so lovely together.

And now for a brief update. The first Circle Sock is finished with the exception of the seam on the toe. These were such a fun and fast knit I don't think I will get second-sock-itous.

Back to the goodies! I also picked up this yummy squishyness! I got the yarn and the pattern for the Entrelac Hat. They had one of these made up in the shop and it was sooooo cute. It has been a while since I did some Entrelac, high time I do some as I loooove it!

Two new projects

So with all the shawls I have been doing it was time for some new things. I have had this lovely Lorna's Laces for some time now. The colors are fantastic and it is so amazingly soft. I found this fun pattern that works great with variegated yarns. Already a really fun knit. The pattern is called Circle Socks.

The second piece I am casting on is a great little cropped hoodie. I am nervous about it though, a lot of people who did it on Ravelry are saying the pattern is full of mistakes. Hopefully I will see them and catch them before I get too far in. The pattern is Green Iris Cropped Hoodie. I am doing this with the leftover Lion Brand Fisherman's wool from Dales Rogue. Above is the cuff cables. I figured mind as well work them at the same time.

Another project finished

Another project finished today and blocking. This was an attempt to use up some stash as well. The pattern is the Easy Triangle Shawl 60301 from Lion Brand. The yarn I used was James C. Brett Marble Chunky. I picked this up in Ireland. The pattern is really easy and knits up fast. I can't wait till it is dry to take some pictures.

I am very thankful for all of the notes from Ravelry users. This pattern is a bit vague, I would not recommend it for a beginning knitter.

I made this from one ball of Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball. Doing the patter as is I do have plenty left over.

I am very happy with the outcome. I can't wait till it is dry to try it on.While in Charlotsville, VA for a very dear friends wedding, Dale and I did a little shopping in their downtown historic district. We found a lovely yarn shop call The Needle Lady. I need more yarn like a hole in the head but this pretty little scarf patter was irresistible! I picked up two skeins of Claudia Hand Painted Yarn to make this little ruffle scarf. The sample they had in the shop was two colors, one as each side of the ruffle. I'm sure I fell and bumped my head because the first row of the directions says " With larger needles cast on 648 sts." Anyone want to volunteer to second count those for me?

Not too sure what I want to work on next. I have a few ideas, need to think about it...stay tuned!

Spinning, knitting and sewing

A little spinning has been going on at the Lute estate. I finished 2 skeins of this lovely blend of silk Romney and Corriedale. I love how it has a nice shine to it. What I'll do with it...who knows!

In an attempt to get rid of some older yarn I have sitting around I am working on a simple shawl with this yarn I purchased in Ireland. I have 4 large balls of it. While it is acrylic, it is extremely soft and should actually be rather warm. I am thinking I will probably (hopefully) use two balls to complete this.

The final design for the new needle cases is done! The first case went on Etsy last night and is already getting favs and views.

The Trinity's Trinkets Etsy shop has had some rather unexpected success. With that I have decided to branch out and expand my line of offerings. This pouch is a trial run of the final. It is designed specifically to hold the Knit Picks Interchangeable needles.

The final will have a different closure. I don't care for this one.

There are 6 pouches to hold your cables.

12 Pockets for needles,

Plus a pouch in the middle to hold all your accessories. Once I have a finished piece they will appear in the Etsy shop.

On another note...I LOVE MY HUSBAND!! The man can make anything. I showed him some pictures of a Lazy Kate and said I needed one. A couple of hours later out of the wood working shop came this beauty! I can't wait to use it and spin the lovely yarn on it. Thanks hon!

Citron and Malabrigo Mobius

This was a SUPER fast knit and fun. This is a Mobius made out of Malabrio Rasta. I used the video on youtube to learn how to make a Mobius. The yarn is super warm and soft. I finished this project in one night. Love it!

And Citron has been finished for some time now. This is the first chance I have had to take some nice pictures of her. This was an easy knit but time consuming.

Dale's Herringbone

Dale fell in love with my Herringbone so of course I needed to make him one. I used a much larger gauge yarn and needle for Dales. I used the Malabrigo Rasta in Black and only cast on 22 stitches instead of 30. The skein was just enough to make the perfect length for him.

The herringbone stitch is a little easier than it is listed in the pattern. I found a video on youtube that showed how to do it but you can also use this note. For the knit rows use: S1, K1, YO, PSSO. It is that easy.

So it getting to that point where we are starting to do things to the house and I am feeling the need to get organized. One of the things on my list was organizing the wool. I wanted to take all the good wool and move it to space saver bags to both create more space and protect it. I am going to try and tackle one thing on my list per day.

Thinking it would be the most fun I started with the wool last night. I have two baskets of my cheap yarn that I keep in the living room just because it is nice to have wool around me. I keep the good stuff upstairs in large ziplock bags. I grabbed the two baskets to organize as well as they had got a bit messy. I started into the first basket and TOTAL devastation. Living in our little cabin in the woods has it's downfalls. Bugs. I'm not sure yet what it was but I had little potato bug looking critters eating holes in all the skeins. Fortunately as I said it was all for the most part cheap yarns. The only major upset was my Jitterbug:-(. The second basket was not as bad I took a few skeins that looked untouched and put them in a bag in the freezer. Lesson learned sadly no wool out for my viewing pleasure :-(.

At the same time though it was a bit liberating. A lot those yarns I have no idea what I would have ever done with them. I am now for the most part down to some really nice yarns for some nice projects. So even though a trash bag and a half is going to the dump, I kind of feel like out with the old in with the new. Of coarse there will always be projects that are perfect for a soft acrylic but as a evolved and educated knitter my yarn tastes have evolved as well.

Citron's Progress

We just got back from our honeymoon and I spent a bit of time working on the Citron. This shawlette has been a total love hate. It seems like every time I do a increase or decrease I have an issue. But I still love it and it is looking amazing. I am just a few rows from starting the last repeat section. I am not looking forward to the last row and cast off though.

The gloves are on time out. The pattern was a mess as the authors primary language is not English. So I am pretty much having to make it all up as I go.

Citron and Gloves

I have need of a full pair of gloves with fingers. I LOVE my Knucks gloves they are super warm. But if it is really cold then I really need my finger tips covered as well. This pattern is called Tornado. I am actually not going to do the convertible mitten but finish the fingers. I am using Crystal Palaces Mochi Plus. Yummy softness!

I finally dove in and am doing Citron. So for all intents and purposes this is a easy pattern. However; there are a lot of increases and decreases and with such a fine lace yarn it is easy to loose stitches. I am needing to seriously pay attention on these rows. But I am loving the finished product. The Malabrigo Lace yarn is so soft and while it seams very delicate it is actually pretty sturdy. Loving this project.

So I purchased this to make the Herringbone Neckwarmer for Dale.

This is for a hat for a friend that I have been promising him for some time.

This little bag was just too cute to say no to. It's the perfect little wrist bag for walking knitting.

I love SOAK! I finally finished the bottle I had and picked up a new one. This product is great for washing your hand knits and any kind of dedicates.

Ok so I finally broke down and got one of these. Talk about cute! It is a needle gauge but is pretty enough to put on a cord or ribbon and wear it as a fun conversational piece.

Getting things done

So I finally finished Dale's Green Kilt Hose. This is the second pair of He' mo Kilt Hose I have made. This pair was made with Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Forest Heather. I believe I used 8 skeins for the project. The wool is very nice and affordable too! I am very pleased with the final outcome. Dale is as well of coarse :-)

After finishing the Kilt Hose I needed a super fast easy project for some instant gratification. This is a yarn I spun about a year ago. It is a great soft Merino. The project I chose for it was the Herringbone Neck Warmer. This was a great easy project that I finished in 2 days and already love! It is a great little scarf to throw on under a coat to keep your neck warm without all the bulk of a scarf.

Like others who had done the scarf, I was a bit confused on how to do the Herringbone Stitch pattern. I watched the youtube pattern that everyone provided on Ravelry and it made more sense. Basically on the knit side S1 K1 YO then PSSO. That is a little easier than how it is described in the pattern. I also tried it on as I went. The pattern said to make it 28 inches that would have been WAY too long for me. I made it up to an inch within the correct size and then did the button hole edging and it worked out great. I just purchased yarn for Dale he wants one too!

I also dusted (literally) off the wheel and decided to do a bit f spinning the other night. This lovely wool was purchased at the Sheep and Wool festival this year. It is a beautiful blend of silk, Romney and Corriedale from The Barefoot Spinner. I am thinking to make this a two ply. I have almost one bobbin full and I still have a foot wide ball of roving to spin! It's Pretty :-) Makes me think Firefly for some reason.

Well goal achieved and slightly exceeded. I finished the calf knot and about an inch after it. So far goals are good. I'm going to keep working a bit tonight then work further tomorrow. I would LOVE to be at the heel by tomorrow night. I think it is doable :-).

Traveling Woman

So I finally got around to taking pictures of my Traveling Woman shawl. This was a pretty quick knit. A little frustrating at times, but for the most part a relatively easy pattern. I used 1 skein of Dream in Color Starry in Deep Seaflower. I did do one extra repeat of the pattern and probably would have had enough to do one more. Over all I am REALLY happy with the way this turned out. It was something different and new for me to try. All in all...love it!

Dales Green Kilt Hose

I am getting near the end of the first sock of Dale's Green Kilt hose.

I chose two different side knots from the first pair I did.

This pair is being made from Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Heather Green.

I am trying to do a real push on these as I would like for Dale to be able to wear them for Pumpkin Chunkin first weekend in November. So I have a lot of work to do.

Clapotis Finished

Clapotis is finally finished! This was a slow knit to get started but once it got rolling it was kind of fun. Dropping the stitches down was both exciting and nerve wrecking.For the most part it is a mindless knit but there is just enough to make you carry the pattern to check the beginning and end of the rows. Blackbeard was nice enough to model it for me.

It had another purpose but that fell through. So since they are the right weight and Dale wanted green hose. Hose it will be. St. Patrick is finished!

After almost a year, St. Patrick is finally finished. The yarn was purchased from a wool shop in Dublin, Ireland on my last visit. The pattern, St. Patrick is from the book a fine fleece.

So we finally got a nice cool rainy day in July so I am trying to finish St. Patrick. The weather outside says Ireland and Irish Sweater. So we are finished except for the collar. I'm going to go work on that now and see if we can finish this beauty today!

What is going on in my fiber world?

The weather was nice this weekend so I took the wheel out onto the deck and did a little spinning. I figured I better spin some of the stuff I got last year at Sheep and Wool before this years Sheep and Wool.

It was nice to hang out outside and do my hobbies.

I did do something new, I took a wood turning class. This is the Spindle I made in the class. It was a lot of fun and I think I am going to try and stay with it.

Not bad for my first try.

As for St. Patrick he is coming along. The front and back are finished and I am almost done the sleeves. I have decided nothing else will be worked on till I am done this sweater!

I have not posted because not much has been going on :-) I have been working a lot on my sweater St. Patrick but it still is not done. I have not had a whole lot of time lately to knit. But I am trying to make more time as the weather is getting better.

Project updates

So between Ren Faire and the move, not a whole lot of knitting is getting done. But here are updates on the three projects I am currently working.

My love affair with Sipalu is in and out. I love the bag I am just still having a hard time finding my happy place with Fair Isle. As you can see it is very inconsistent. Getting better towards the top but still needs work. So this is a row at a time then put it down sort of deal.

Clapotis however much easier and coming along nicely. Just enough going on to keep me inters ted. I have completed 4 drops. This is going to be a lovely shawl.

And St. Patrick...I am in love with you :-). I was really disappointed at first when it looked like the cables were going to get lost in the color. But now that I am about 11 inches into the front the cables look great! I find myself working on this the most :-) Maybe it is because it is getting cold outside and I want to hurry up and wear it!

St.Patrick is coming along. I haven't had a lot of time to work on it so concidering it has only been a week not too bad. I am a bit dissapointed that the cables don''t show as much. But I am guessing they may become more evident as it gets longer. I got this yarn to do a aran sweater so a aran it will be. Even if the cables don't scream look at me :-)
I spent Wednesday night trying to catalog my yarn in Ravelry. While I have a lot of misc. bits, (which will become a scrap scarf or something similar one day) I wanted to have on file some of the nice yarns I have purchased. I came to realise way to quick that I have a lot of freaking yarn! I told Dale I need another cedar chest, he said he will keep his eyes out for one. I said screw that we have a backyard with cedar trees we are gonna make one! He said cool :-)

So upon realizing all the pretties I had I was inspired to use them! So I have cast on the famous Clapotis with a pretty I got at the Torpedo Factory. Almost everyone in my group has done one so I figured I would jump on board as well. I hope I am doing it right, I guess we will find out when I go to drop the stitches.

I also intend to take on my fear of fair isle and start the Sipalu bag. Kate I mean Hiltz got me this beautiful kit last year for my birthday and there she sits. So In the next few days I'm gonna take it on and give it a go.

So Dales kilt hose were finished in just enough time. They fit perfect and look great. In the end I used 3 skeins of Patons Classic Wool. He is very happy with them. Next pair I am going to try designing my own cables. Well see how that goes :-)

SO now that Dale's Kilt Hose are finished (Pictures to come soon!) I have started a Aran Sweater for me. I picked up this beautiful Irish New Wool the last time I was in Ireland and was waiting for just the right pattern to use it for. I fell in love with the St. Patrick pattern in the a fine fleece book. So I have started this one in hopes I can finish it in time to enjoy it a little this year.

I worked as much as possible on these this weekend with faire. I finished the calf knot so that is one chart less to worry about. I pretty much have the front knot pattern memorized so it should go nice and quick from here out. 12 days left to finish them!

So I got a bit side tracked with sewing for faire. I suddenly realized I have about 20 days left to finish Dale's Kilt hose. So they are back on the high priority list. I have a ways to go but I think it should be done in time. I am on the garter portion of the second sock. Since I am already familiar with the pattern I think once the cables are established it should go quick. I have meet crazier deadlines so we shall see!

Yes I am crazy! Dale's birthday is in September. While I should be done WAY before then I am working on this beautiful pair of Kilt Hose for him. A bit of a challenge as I have never done such a complicated sock but so far so good. I love the fact that changes to the cables can be modified and that the designer gives you several options. Here is the link for the pattern:

The top is knit in the round then picked up for the picket stitch and garter. The whole thing is then turned inside out to knit the body so when you turn the cuff down the knotwork shows.

I am just a few rows into the body so you can't see the body cables too well yet. This is a back view.

So far a fun knit! I'll make sure to post pictures as I go. Here is hoping he keeps me around after these! LOL

I did not want you people thinking I was just sitting on my butt watching TV. I have actually been sewing like mad to try and get some new garb together for Faire this year. I always wait till the last minute and then nothing gets done. So I finally got motivated and started EARLY! This is one of a several pieces I have made so far and by far one of my favorite.

The middle fabric was purchased in Carcasonne in France when I visited there like two years ago. It was always intended to be a tier in a skirt and just never made it there. She ended up here not on purpose.
It had been so long since I had done a tribal skirt I forgot the correct amount of fabric needed. The whole skirt was supposed to be the Terracotta color. I purchased 3 yards and as I was cutting realized I needed 5. I went back to the store and got another two yards of what I thought was the exact same fabric.
As it turns out it was ever so slightly different. I knew if I put it side by side I would see it and it would drive me crazy! So as I sat there trying to decide what to do...I saw Frenchie in the fabric bin.

She went perfect with the Terracotta and even though the gold and the yellow are slightly different I love it! I am VERY happy with this skirt. I still need to make a vest or bodice to match but we have time for that :-)

Noro Sock

Ok so this is going to become a knitting and sewing blog shortly because all I have been doing lately is sewing! SO to show I am not just sitting around being lazy I am going to take pictures of the sewing I have been doing. I can at least show this...the Noro sock is coming along nicely. Still have a ways to go then still need to do the second one!

Trinity's Voyage is 7 rows from being finished and that will need special blocking. It also has a home now. It is going to be a gift for Jessie Dales sister. She wanted me to make her a green shawl so since she is in Florida and it is pretty warm, I thought the cotton would be good.

I started spinning some of the lovelies I purchased at Sheep and wool. This stuff is a bit of a pain. Im just not used to such short fibers.

I still have been working on a few projects. My biggest knit at the moment is trying to finish up Voyager. Here are some pictures of that so far. I am on the third skein and I think I'm gonna do 4 total.

I have so many projects I want to work on but feel I need to finish this guy first. So this is really the oly kniting project I am working on at the moment.

So the important stuff. What yummies did I bring home! Well since I have three Llama and one Alpaca fleece coming I tried to stick with fibers other than wool. So I picked up this silk. I thought I would find a yummy color to dye it.

Ok I know it's wool but look at the pretty colors!!!!

And the price!

Now...this picture will do this roving NO justice. You have to fondle this to appreciate it. This is 100% organic cotton. And it feels like baby alpaca. It is so soft you just want to us it as a pillow! So. We are gonna try and spin cotton :-)

Most important on my list was bobbins for my wheel. I got these first because I knew the money would be gone if I didn't.

I had wanted to do this pattern for so long and it seemed like a quick knit to give me a feeling of completion. It turned out awesome! As you can see in the first pick it is knit super big then felted and shaped. I went with shaping it while it was on. If you want it to fit you...mind as well put it on your head! I mad e the feather pin as well and added that. I am REALLY happy with it. Probably one of my favorite things I have ever knit. And of course...everyone wants one! LOL

Woad is me....

So this weekend it was adventures with Woad. I found some directions online on how to process the woad and get indigo dye base. It is a very long process. As of right now I am still washing the indigo which basically means wait for it to settle take out as much of the icky water without catching the dye and adding more water. Once you have a fairly clear water the dye will be put in a pot to dry to a chalk like powder and that is the dye :-) Unfortunatly...U'm gonna need a lot more to dye to do any large amount of wool! So I gave the woad to Mia to grow back LOL. I'll make sure to post pictures of the finished product :-).

This is the first batch of wool for Heather for her diaper covers I hope it works out ok. There are 3 skeins of two ply totaling 283 yards. These were done on drop spindles.

So I sat down at the wheel for the first time last night. I'm glad I picked up a visual how to book with a section on trouble shooting. That was a big help. I understand the basic concept now it is just a matter of perfecting it. I will say I think it helped having used a drop spindle first. As you can see in the picture it doesn't look so bad, but I do need to work on tension a bit.

So I am finally diving in deeper. I purchased Ashley's spinning wheel which she purchased from Ashley! Thought we would change it up a bit! LOL I am very excited to get a chance to start working with it. Noro Socks

I went up to New York for the weekend so I had a nice long bus trip to do a bit of knitting. To continue the destash I decided it was time to do something with the Noro Kureyon sock wool. Since I loved doing the scarf so much I thought the socks would be just as fun. I split the ball in half and I'm working toe up to be able to make them as long as I have enough wool for. So far it's going fairly well.

Yay! This is my first project from my own handspun! It turned out awesome :-). I will post the pattern soon but it is called Hannah and can be found in mag knits. It has a hole and a flap in the back so you can pull your hair into a ponytail and still be able to cover your ears. I love it! I was sweating it I did not think I was going to have enough yarn but I did :-).

Mia was holding out on me! She had two trash bags full of wool that she got off of free cycle. It is beautiful wool. I have been spinning some of the darker wool to give to Heather for Diaper Covers. The Lighter wool I will spin up for myself I suppose. Mia was nice enough to ration out a bit of it to me :-) If I want more I have to knit Shawn a sweater and cigar gloves LOL. I spins up very nicely though. This is the first skein. It is a 2 ply 71 yards and 10 wpi. Mama like!

Lyn was kind enough to model Rogue for me since I would not get to see it on its intended recipient. Of coarse he did not want to part with it then except it was 70 degrees outside and he claimed it was very warm. I did get a message from Dale saying if did fit and that he loved it.

Soooo everyone has been asking what is to become of "Rogue". Well nothing has changed in that department. I made it for Dale and to Dale it will go. Update: The body is blocking on my bed at home and should be completely ready by the time I get there. It was almost dry this morning. I finished one sleeve on my lunch today. The other is only 20 short rows from being complete. I plan to finish that one when I get home today and lay both out to block while I weave all the ends into the body and stitch the hem. Tomorrow I should be able to seam the sleeves and attach them to the body and she will be done. Hopefully Lyn will be so kind to model it for me for pictures before he takes it off to Dale.

Oddly enough my cell phone was the best at actually capturing the color of this yarn. SO...this is my first real homespun yarn. I have practiced a lot with little skeins of stuff but nothing significant. This is a bulky weight yarn with 7 wpi and 91 yards. Not sure what I am going to do with it just yet. But I'm pretty happy with it for a starter :-)!

So the sweater is coming along. The hood is finished all that is left is the sleeves. I need a break. I have been busting my butt on that so I figured I would take a little break and play with some new toys. So with the new drop spindles I finally started spinning the purple roving I purchased from MDSW 2 years ago. I'm still having issues with consistency in my width as you can see But hopefully with practice I will get better. I have 4 oz. of this roving to work with! It is a hand painted Finn Top. I like the spindles so far. I did have Dale put notches in the side which have made it a lot easier.

Well it is Friday the 13th...ugh and here it is. Hey I got pretty far in a very short period of time! But sadly I don't think I can finish the hood and knit two sleeves by tomorrow. He's not worried about it but I just like to push myself to try and make deadlines. The new goal is next week! I hope to have the hood finished this weekend and at least start the sleeves. I think I can do it we shall see. So far I am pretty happy with it.

First things first, Dale's Rogue is coming along nicely. I am about 30 rows into the body and the kangaroo pouch is just waiting for the body to catch up to be attached. Easy knit so far, a little boring with all the stockinette stitch but then when you get to the side cables you get really excited!

And my custom drop spindles came today! They are beautiful. I ordered these from Dragon craft on Etsy. I asked for Trinity knots and check it out!

I know I was supposed to finish all projects before starting any new ones. But I was down to Trinity's Voyage. So I decided to get the wool and Start The Rogue sweater for Dale. So 9 days to go and the fall bag is ready for embellishing. These colors are way off. Its a darkish green and the rings are a pumpkinish orange and a mustard yellow. I am going to take opinions tonight at stitch and bitch as to how I should embellish it. I can't decide if I want to embroider the outline of leaves on it, or knit leaves and attach them.

Since I was not sure yet where I was going with the fall bag I decided not to waist time and start on the spring summer :-) So this is how far we are...plenty of time!

First The Good News! :-)

I found the hot water on the washing machine! Ok for those who did not hear...the knob on my washing machine free spins. I never really know what setting it is on. I just turn till water comes on and let it go. In the past hot water started coming out so I turned it again till it became cold. (I wash everything cold) So now that I wanted hot to felt I could not find it. I found it last night! It wasn't turned on!!! Some brainiac in the house decided to cut off the hot water to the washer. So Now that I know where the hot water tap is I can just crank it to felt. YAYYYYY!!!!

Now The bad News :-(

Uhhh that white is not 100% wool. (I will post pics later it's kind of funny :-) Engh it happens I'm not really heartbroken to tell you the truth. Fear not there will still be a Winter Dumpling for the auction.

And now the countdown starts 10 days to the auction and we are at the beginning. The fall dumpling has started.

The Winter Dumpling "Deakstock"

Many of you many remember a fundraiser I knitted a hate for last year "Deakstock". Well guess what we are doing it again this year raising money to help another Vet. Since I am very fond of the dumpling bags right now, I plan to make 3 to donate to the silent auction. The first is almost finished. The Winter dumpling. Soon to follow will be the Fall Dumpling and the Spring/Summer Dumpling :-) I'll provide all the stats when they are finished. But here is the Winter awaiting a few more random snowflakes then felting.

Taveling Scarves

In other knitting news....

I have been taking part in a group on Ravelry called Traveling Scarves. Basically the way this group works is you start a scarf and then place the live stitches on a holder and then send it to another person. That person would then add their own section to your scarf and send it to another. It is a great way to use up little bits of scrap, and to try new stitch patterns. And in the end the scarf you started comes back to you. Here are some pictures of scarves I've worked on. I am currently in two groups. One is for knitter and crochet, and the other is for Noro yarn only.

This was my starter section for the knitting, crochet group.
I added the purple bit on this scarf.

Trinity's Voyage

I am on a mission to de-stash a bit. I have so many lovely yarns that are just begging to be made into something beautiful. This yarn was actually a amazing purchase at one of Knit Happens amazing sales. It is called Pomaire by Araucania Yarns. It is a 10 ply cotton. While looking around on Ravelry I saw someone else who had done this same stole with the same yarn. And it turned out really nice so i decided to try it for myself. The pattern is called the Voyager Lace Stole. I am calling it Trinity's Voyage :-). So far I think I am happy with it.

My first time doing a crochet provisional cast on. Lets hope it goes OK!
I like how the leafs actually shape the edge it's not just a straight edge.
I have 5 skeins. The person I saw did hers with 4 but I have a feeling I may use all 5.

So I decided it was time to finish up some odd and end projects. Lady El is finally finished. I have decided against the fringe for now. This shawl put me through so much I kind of just wanted to leave it as is. Between he mystery holes a dropped stitch or two...I finally said this is the last row your done! So here she is in all of her glory.

These pictures are actually pretty accurate in color I would say. I used Noro Kureyon.
Also on the finish it already list was the market bag. She was finished but in need of all of the ends to be sewn in. Got that finished as well.

I have to say I was a little disappointed in the end product as you really can't put anything too heavy in it because it stretches a lot. Could be my fault I guess. Or just a really stretchy pattern. Overall fun knit though. Lion Brand Cotton ease.

So after finishing a few odds and ends. I decided to start the Dumpling Bag I had bought the kit to do. This was such a fun and quick knit. I started it Friday night and had it felted the next day. The first picture here is before felting.

And here is the finished product. Cute eh!? I'll try to get a better picture.

Well the knitting is finished! Now to weave in the endless number of tails. Ugh! All in all though a fun knit. Easy to follow pattern and the yarn is just yummy. It did turn out a bit stretchier then I would have liked but I imagine it will still be a very useful bag. Better photos to come this was just taken with my cell phone I was just to excited to have finished it on my lunch today :-D!

Dublin and the BYOB

I decided the BYOB bag (http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer08/PATTbyob.html) would be a nice knit for the Dublin trip. Mostly mindless with just enough to keep you interested. This has been a fun knit so fair. I am using Lion Brand Cotton-Ease which is incredibly soft. My only complaint so far is the amount of knots in it. I had one section that had 3 knots within 8" of each other. But other then that it has been a fun knit. I have 10 more rows of the mesh section and then I will start the top. Will keep you posted! I have Internet at the house now so my updates should be more frequent.

Sooo the moth update…

So I put her in the freezer, didnt hear or see anything after the shake. When I got home that night I sat down to repair the two holes and found two more that for sure were not there earlier. So, In a attempt to save anything I cute off about 6 inches that seemed to be the focus of whatever was going on. Put her in a trashbag in the freezer for till I got back from Ireland. (Sad I really wanted her to go with me :-()

When I got home last night I took here out to have a look. No new holes good news. Just to be on the safe side I nuked her a few times as well. So I am now in the process of getting the stitches back onto the needle to add a few more rows. The extra yarn also went into the freezer and will be nuked before I add it. So, hopefully I have managed to stop whatever was going on and save the Lady Eleanor.

It was really strange because I couldn’t see anything! Whatever was having dinner was microscopic! There was absolutly nothing there but new wholes were popping up. So I am going to go out today and invest in some mothballs.

Ok I need prayers right now! I finished and soaked the Lady El this weekend. I was showing her to a co-workder this morning and she noticed a hole already! I was a bit worried with some of the sections of yarn because the seemed very thin. So I asked Kate who did the same shaw with the same wool if she had problems with thin spots breaking. She told me what I described sounded more like moth damage! Crap! So under her direction I have put the lady in a trash bag in the freezer and we will give her a shake later and hope nothing falls out. I couldn’t really see anything web like on it but who knows she has been all over the place.

Ok so I know it has been a few days :-) (OK 3 Months SORRY!) But that of coarse means I have just been crazy busy knitting right? I wish, I have had all sorts of madness going on in my life at the moment. But Here I am with updates to boot! So lets get going on those update!

First and most important, Lady Eleanor II, She is actually even bigger then in this picture. In fact she is 5 skeins away from being finished. She will be finished before my big trip in 11 days!

Lady Eleanor Two Is on its way. Iam 3 skeins into it with it measuring I would say about 16"s so far. I am a little worried about the size. It is not as wide as I would like but according to kate It will grow when I block it. So I will keep my fingers crossed.

Barb and Marias Prayer Shawl

Sorry it took me a while to post these Barb!

As many of you know Barb has a dear friend who has been diagnosed with cancer. And Barb despite her own pain her hands are giving her managed to make her friend Maria a BEAUTIFUL Prayer Shawl. Here are the results!

This is what you get! The pictures don't really do it justice I have seen it and the colors are amazing. Barb said despite the open weave it is very soft and warm. And my understanding is it is already in Marias hands and she was in tears.

I picked up this wool in Paris. It is a Turkish wool.

From Paris as well this brand is made in Barcelona. I am going to make a pair of socks.

I actually got this in Ireland it is the softest Acrylic I have ever felt. I have 4 large skeins of it I'm not sure what I am going to do with it but its beautiful.

This was the only French wool that I saw that I really cared for. It's nice I'm just going to do some skinny dressy scarf.

I couldn't help but to cast on Lady Eleanor. I am actually a bit further along than this. About two more rows. I am just finishing up my first skein and she is about 8" long. This pattern is SSOOO easy. Yes I said EASY. The Noro does most of the work for you changing colors and creating beautiful patterns. I will try and post better pics in the next day or so.

I was inspired by Kate's Lady Eleanor. Many of you may remember drooling over this beauty as Kate worked on it at the Knit Wits Holiday party. Well here she is finished. Great job Kate!

Tree Skirt Update

So The tree skirt is coming along. I have decided to commit to doing 1 segment a week. There are a total of 11 segments and then the trim. So tonight I will have segment 2 finished. This way I have a action plan. True it does not need to be finished till next Christmas but I would rather try and get it finished. Id feel better knowing it is done in plenty of time.

You can start to see how it shapes with the short rows.
By the way...this pattern is the Aran Tree Skirt in the book handknit Holidays.

SO this weekend was the St Patties Parade in Old Town Alexandria. And Knit Happens being the smart people they are decided to have a sale. Lots of great wool anywhere from %50-90% off. I tried to stay away but certain other members of the Knit Wits forced me to go. So here are the goodies that I got!

I have no idea what I am going to do with any if it but I am sure I can find something!

I got to the register and held my breath for the total... $110 BUT... I saved $298! I think I did good don't you!?
